Stand up and be recognized

It's time for SWE Awards nominations! If you know a woman who deserves recognition for her professional achievements, an exceptional engineering educator, or a man who has demonstrated longtime support of women in engineering then please nominate them! Award packets are available here and are due by March 31st. The Awards packet does take some time to put together, so it is best to get started immediately. If you are interested in being part of the South Ohio SWE Nominating Committee, please contact me at bianca.mccartt@swe.org.

Note that the 2007 National Conference hotels are now accepting reservations. Make yours now to ensure yourself a room at the conference hotel!

The networking events we started last July have been very popular and I'm so glad that many of you have been able to attend. Thanks to all who have come out with us and made them such a success!

A few reminders:
  • A number of outreach events are coming soon (see details below). Please contact Kate Youmans if you are interested in helping out.
  • Engineers Week is February 18-24th. Whether or not you are able to participate in a SWE organized event, you can always contact a local school and offer to talk to one of their classes about engineering. Many tools are available to help you put together an effective presentation at both www.swe.org and www.eweek.org.
  • The Region G conference is March 23rd-25th in Pittsburgh, PA. More information can be found here. If you are interested in attending, please let myself or Katie Andersen know.
  • Officer elections are in April. If you are interested in a position, please contact Katie Andersen for more information.
