Why a SWE blog?
This past weekend we held our SWE Officer/Director Retreat to do our planning for the year and this question came up, so I thought I would address it here also for all those out there wondering the same thing.
The purpose, as I see it, is to make our section more accessible to our current and potential members. It would be great if everyone could attend all of our events, but since that is not possible, I find the blog a convenient way to talk about what we've been doing, how the events are going, and find out who you might meet at the next event. Occasionally, there are also comments and newsworthy items that aren't section activities per se, but hopefully are of general interest to our audience. You might think of it as an alternative, real-time newsletter.
In order to give readers an even better picture of what our section is up to, we are expanding the blog to include everyone on the South Ohio Executive team as authors. We hope that this will result in more frequent updates, and a broader perspective on section activities.
We have a lot planned for the year, including:

We have a lot planned for the year, including:
- A continuation of our monthly networking events which will include a return to some of our favorites including the Chocolate Tasting, Spa Night and Art Trek and new additions
- New professional development events including a visit from Betty Shanahan, SWE's executive director and Speed Mentoring
- Technical tours of local companies
